OS X.5 / X.6 - Time Machine and (multiple) Volumes
Time Machine can handle different types of volumes for its backups, not only one local drive. It can store Backups on network-mounted volumes, can handle multiple backups on different volumes etc., but there are no native options to do so.Here you will find the solutions to some scenarios:
